“A WALK IN THE PARK”
For Chilean fashion designer, Claudia Anicy Manuguian, it was not a “Walk In The Park”, but with a strong background in Italian design and the ability to blend natural fibers with contemporary styling, the Anicy Manuguian hand-made knitwear collection captured the attention of today’s women.

Claudia Anicy had a dream to follow her love of fashion to where it would take her. She left Santiago, Chile, and followed that dream to Milan, Italy, and studied at the prestigious Instituto Marangoni where she graduated with three Master’s Degrees in Fashion Design, Product Management and Fashion Coordination.

After working with Marina Spadafora as a fashion designer of knitwear and Paola Frani as a Production Manager for the Pret-a-Porter collections, she became a fashion consultant for Max Mara and Tombollini in Turin. Next stop was London, an art and fashion mecca for the extraordinary, where she collaborated with the Queen of Vanguard, Vivienne Westwood.

With her broad experience and a burning desire to start the label, Anicy Manuguian, she returned to Chile to build the brand. During a recent Zele interview Claudia mentioned, “In Italy working with major global brands, [where I had to learn gradually to earn my place and show my talent and apply a great deal of effort and sacrifice, I learnt that one of the great values of human beings is resilience] …. trust yourself and fight for your dreams.” The Anicy Manuguian Collection is a reflection of Claudia’s life philosophy of sourcing natural fibers instead of synthetic fabrics, employing local labor for hand-made knitwear instead of mass produced garments, and contracting only with Fair Trade certified factories.

The current Collection, which is inspired by classic Hollywood divas like Marlene Dietrich and Ava Gardner with their hour-glass figures and naïve coquetry, creates shapely silhouettes with knitting wrapping sensually around the female body with simple and elegant lines. Using natural fibers including baby alpaca and Pima cotton together with hand-dyed nude colors, pale pinks and pastel greens, the knitwear collection combines crochet details with “delicate embroidery of small flowers on collars and cleavages giving shape to the woman’s body”. The collection integrates a complete line of dresses, skirts, tops, shorts jackets and coats, that allows for a full outfit in knitwear. This creates a new luxurious concept of “modern glamour” for the contemporary woman.
