Madison McKinley started modeling at 18 when she became a finalist after entering a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit competition in Manhattan and winning a Next modeling contract. As an international model she has worked in England, Greece, Germany and Australia. Madison’s acting career has included roles in 30 Rock, Rescue Me, Kings and White Collar as well as Off- Broadway theatrical shows. She was also in the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, and “The Other Woman” with Cameron Diaz and Kate Upton. Madison was one of the cast for “The Bachelor” show (15th season). She has made “MODE’s World’s 100 Most Beautiful Women” twice and for 2016 she is listed at #14.
MODE: How would you describe your personal fashion style?
Madison: Being comfortable is always my number one priority. In my opinion it doesn’t matter how in style you are, if you feel uncomfortable you’re going to look uncomfortable. That being said, I might sometimes take it a little too far. My style has been nicknamed sloppy-chic but it works for me. Also never underestimate the power of well-placed accessories or jewelry.
MODE: In a few words, what are your must-dos for beauty and maintenance?
Madison: Moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize.
“You just need to be able to
look in the mirror at the
end of the day and be
happy with your choices”
MODE: Are you a gym rat or more of a stroll in the park sort of person?
Madison: Ha, unfortunately I am not one of the lucky few who can sit on the couch, binge on bean dip all day, then slip into a bikini. My best friend is and I learned the hard way not to copy her. For me it takes a lot of work. I also think it’s difficult to really see oneself objectively, but I know when I kick my ass at the gym or on a run or at yoga or anywhere I feel great. So I aim for that, and often switch up what I am doing so I don’t lose interest & motivation. Working out is hard, and it’s easy not to do it if you lose motivation.
MODE: How focused are you with dieting? Being an actress and model it must be something you have to think about.
Madison: I try to be on point 80% of the time. I eat very lean and very clean natural real foods. That way I don’t feel so guilty indulging in the things I love like a whole milk latte in the morning, a glass of wine in the evening, and a bit of chocolate before bed. Don’t get me wrong, I downright cheat on occasion too, mostly bar food while watching football; chicken wings, hamburgers, truffle fries, and Ice cream. OMG I love Ice cream!
MODE: When you get time off work where do you go to escape?
Madison: I inherited a pretty strong bit of wanderlust; so my favorite is going places I’ve never been. I once flew 11hrs there and 11 back to spend two days in Prague. Insane, I know! Favorite place I’ve been recently is Tulum. It’s not commercialized the way a lot of Mexico is these days, and it’s quaint, beautiful and very well kept.
MODE: What projects do you have coming up?
Madison: Knock on wood, I have some exciting things lined up. I have finished shooting an Indie film in the Dominican Republic and just fell in love with the process, the creativity, and the artistic freedom that world allows. Hopefully 2017 will bring more of the same.
MODE: We always like to hear from people that have made their way up the ladder of success in their chosen field. What advice would you offer to MODE readers for success, happiness and following their dreams?
Madison: It is your life, you are only given so much time here, and you don’t need to prove anything to anyone. You just need to be able to look in the mirror at the end of the day and be happy with your choices and the direction you are going. If you are not then change it. It might not be easy but it will probably be worth it.
