Actor and model Stasya Knight knew she was destined to become an actress from an early age when she and her mother went to see “The Phantom of the Opera” featuring Sarah Brightman. She was totally mesmerized, realizing only recently, that her passion for acting was born that evening, “living in shared reality, a beautiful, fantastical reality, as everyone (cast members and audience) was transported into another universe,” she said. It was a magical moment never to be forgotten which inspired her to pursue an acting career.
Since then she has moved to LA and appeared in movies including The Unbelievable, Promise Ring and Tangential Lives. Her acting mentor, Mark Teschner (four-time Emmy Award Winner), cast her first television role as Hadley in General Hospital. Teschner taught classes at TVI Acting Studio, attended by Stasya. Richard Brander, a notable acting teacher for many actors including Kevin Costner and Milla Jovovich, also worked with Stasya to develop her “in the moment” acting skills.
MODE: How do you keep your balance between looking good and fashionable versus getting on with other aspects of your life?
Stasya: I feel the happiest when I focus my attention on things I’m passionate about, rather than on myself. I try to keep in mind that beauty is a light that shines through people reflecting their inner world, not just an external package.
MODE: What are your basic daily beauty routines?
Stasya: Clean skin is at the top of the list. I make sure to wash my makeup off at the end of each day. I also like to keep the number of products down to a minimum because simplicity has always given me the best results.
MODE: Do you find that you have to exercise regularly to stay in shape or do you easily stay in shape without much effort?
Stasya: I’ve always struggled with making myself go to the gym or follow any rigid workout regimen. I like to trick myself into staying active by doing things I enjoy, like bike riding and Yoga. Also, I’m lucky to have a Beagle and an Australian Shepherd that keep me on the go with hikes and adventures.

MODE: Do you have to follow a strict diet or are you more relaxed in how you eat? If you have to have a cheat meal what would it be?
Stasya: I’ve tried it both ways and I feel that not limiting myself from the things I want keeps me from overindulging on them later. It’s all about finding a balance and not getting obsessive about food or weight. I enjoy feeling healthy and full of energy and that’s always my ultimate goal with nutrition and exercise. There’s a lot of foods I love, but my biggest weaknesses have to be donuts and chocolate cake.
MODE: What is your favorite place to visit for a vacation?
Stasya: I have a major soft spot for New Mexico where I lived as a child. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to and somewhere I can find inner peace and quiet down the world.
MODE: What plans do you have for your career for 2016 and beyond?
Stasya: In 2016 I’m planning on working on films that explore a darker side of the human psyche. My goal with every character I take on is to expand my own understanding of the world and myself through the eyes of another person’s perspective. And equally important to me is the joy I get from working with new and old friends in creating worlds that didn’t previously exist.
MODE: If you had to give some word of wisdom to MODE readers for success, happiness and following their dreams what would you say?
Stasya: I read somewhere that Will Smith starts every morning by believing that today is going to be better than yesterday. I decided to give that mantra a try and say it out loud every morning. And I honestly think it works! Because it forces your mind to search for proof of good things throughout the day, which in turn makes your day better.
