Gifted Colombian fashion designer Martin Alvarez was already well known for his exquisite designs. However, a 2016 meeting between Alvarez and Carmine De Santis of the Italian fashion house DESANTIS ushered in an evolution in the brand. The result was the creation of the new line De Santis by Martin Alvarez, which debuted to critical acclaim at the Milan Fashion Week with a prêt-à-porter collection.

The DESANTIS company has come a long way from its founding in 1961 by the forefather Aniello De Santis as a fur workshop, establishing itself in the Italian market with its elegant and luxurious furs. From 1971 the company further established itself in the tailor-made sector for both men and women. The offerings ranged from formal outfits to wedding and ceremonial dresses as well as tailored leisurewear.

The new generation, represented by the sons of Aniello De Santis Giuseppe, Carmine and Valentino, have continued to evolve the brand whilst always remaining true to its heritage as a respected house in Italian fur and haute couture. The fur and prêt-à-porter collections by Carmine De Santis debuted in the early 90s. Carmine also heads the high fashion bridal and ceremonial lines, and opened the showroom in Via Ariberto in the heart of Milan.

The combination of Italian inspiration and Colombian soul in the joining of Martin Alvarez and Carmine De Santis is a confirmation of the company’s ethos of continuous evolution and has resulted in wonderful styles, colours, techniques and materials to be discovered in the new collections.
